CCL6 - A snapshot in June 2025

An overview of the 3 stations under CCL6 in June 2025.

With the Circle Line stage 6 (CCL6) section targeted for completion in the first half of 2026, we took the opportunity to check in on progress made on the 3 new stations along the 4km link. Works at the three stations are in the semi-final stages, with structural works since completed and installation of architectural finishings underway. Commuter facilities such as sheltered bus stops and pick-up/drop-off points are being constructed to support connectivity at the stations. Join us as we take a better look at all the progress made thus far after the jump.

CCL6 - A snapshot in October 2024

Looks like it has been some time since we made an update on Circle Line stage 6 (CCL6). Since our last update the most significant milestone would be the decommissioning of the temporary staging area for trackworks - more on that later. The various stations also have seen installation of escalators completed at 8 of the eligible exits, while the remaining exit will feature lift-only access.

5 May 2024 - An aerial view of the Cantonment station work site with the platform canopies of
the old railway station fully reinstated to their original positions.

In the three months since our last visit to Cantonment station, there have been several changes. First of all, the platform canopies for the former railway station's platforms have been moved back into their original positions entirely. Secondly, the cooling tower structure is taking place with the metal frame for the louvres and roof put in place. And thirdly, the street-level surface structures of the various exits are beginning to take shape. We delve into the progress made in greater detail in this post.

Today we check in on the progress made at Contract 883's Cantonment station in the month of August 2023. Works have proceeded to reinstate the former Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM, Malayan Railways) platforms that were removed to allow works for the Cantonment station to proceed. The removed platform canopies were conserved & stored off site till works were sufficiently completed for their reinstallation at the original site. Besides this, the station exits are slowly becoming more apparent as well. We'll take a closer look at these in this post.

C883 - Cantonment 2022 year-end update

30 December 2022 - An excavation pit for one of the station exits.

30 December 2022 - An overview of the station site.

Cantonment station, much like the others along Circle Line 6, has been under construction for several years now. As this section of the line passes through generally built up and sensitive sites, the stations are being built using a top-down approach. Unfortunately, this means that observing the works within the excavation site are not that easy with little visible changes viewable from the surface. The narrative here is no different - the surface-level site appears the same whilst there were some noticeable works to remove struts at one of the station exits along Spottiswoode Road.

On National Day, we conducted a virtual tour on the SG MRT Construction (SgMC) Instagram channel. During the tour, we covered several stations along the Circle Line and we'll be featuring some additional shots that we hadn't showcased on the Instagram channel during the tour.

Circle Line 6 Project Information Centre

The Project Information Centre is located along Spottiswoode Road in front of the former Tanjong Pagar Railway Station and is open to the public on a walk-in basis, unlike some other centres which require prior bookings and arrangements (for example the Thomson-East Coast Line stage 3 PIC at Orchard station).
