C886 - Cut & Cover tunnels + Trackwork preparation

Structural works at contract 886 appear to be almost done with the site being handed over to the trackworks contractor. Known as a temporary staging area (TSA), this will form the base for trackworks to be carried out. Through the duration of the track installation work, some gantry cranes and other support equipment may be used.

With work cleared up from the turnback tunnel near Park Street, the site is ready to be turned into a TSA. Several openings in the tunnel ceiling will allow works trains to descend into the tunnel via shafts located within the TSA. Rails and sleepers can be seen on site awaiting final assembly along CCL6. Also visible on site is a diamond crossover which is likely to be used at the turnback sidings.
