Stage 6 stations?

This afternoon we came across a page showing some competition entries for Circle Line stations. These were dated to 2013, and we aren't exactly sure of where these stations are meant to be. At a first glance, they seemed potentially to be renders of designs for the initial Circle Line which was completed in 2011. But take a closer look at the station names.

Architects 61 is the firm that has also come up with the designs for upcoming Downtown Line stations Little India and Rochor. They have also tucked Boon Keng and Potong Pasir stations under their belt for Contract 705 along the North East Line (NEL).

The station names on these renders are an unknown name but with an educated guess as 'Portstation', Cantonment and Marina Coastal. Looking at the accompanying codes, we believe that 'Portstation' is station CC30, which is directly after HarbourFront interchange. We recall the statement issued that a portion of land will be acquired from the port - perhaps to facilitate the construction of a station within the port area. We have previously noted some soil investigations along Keppel Road near a pedestrian overhead bridge there.

Next is station CC31, Cantonment. One of the renders shows what appears to be the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station. Soil Investigations have been noticed around this area as well previously.

The last station is CC32 known as Marina Coastal. We presume this station to sit at the site of the current Shenton Way bus terminal along Palmer Road. According to the URA Masterplan 2014, the site on which the station should sit is in close proximity to the Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE), potentially giving rise to this station being named Marina Coastal.

Additional information uncovered states that there will be 3 stations along the line (which we now know as CC30, CC31 and CC32).

Information for contract 8803 states a 4km line with 3 stations. We believe the average inter-station length to be about
1 km (meaning stations are 1km apart from each other as with the rest of the Circle Line). Doing a check via onemap,
the presumed locations of all 3 stations fall roughly within 1 km of each other.
With the information fitting together, we presume that these are the locations of the Circle Line stage 6 stations. However, as the information remains unverified, we would advise caution in speculation based on this post entirely.

  1. Having the station at cantonment would make a lot of sense. but hopefully they do it under the current customer building rather than the tanjong pagar railway station so as to not structurally damage such a landmark

  3. I suggest 4 new stations continuing from HarbourFront (CC29/NE1) which are:

    Keppel West (CC30)
    Keppel East (CC31)
    Cantonment (CC32)
    Marina Coast (CC33)

And renaming the station codes for Bayfront and Marina Bay to:

    Marina Bay (CC34/NS27)
    Bayfront (CC35/DT16)
