Contract 882 for the construction of Keppel station has seen progress with the first of 3 station exits becoming visible at street level. The slope upon which the escalators and staircase will sit can also be visible, signaling that progress is leading towards the exits achieving basic structure completion soon. At the eastern end of the station, back filling works are also in progress. We take a closer look at the progress made at the station over August 2023.

Station features
To recap, the station will feature 3 exits, of which one will be connected by a mined underpass crossing underneath Keppel Road. The station will be the only one of the Circle Line 6 (CCL6) stations to feature underground bicycle parking facilities. Other features of the station are several skylights that will allow natural lighting to inundate the platform area.

Status of progress
With the existing pedestrian overhead bridge still in place next to the station box providing an excellent vantage point, the progress of Exit A can be seen clearly. The earlier mentioned slope is apparent, as is the pedestal from which the stairs into the station will sit, flanked by an escalator on either side.

The middle portion of the station has also been back-filled, with similar works taking place at the eastern end as well. Demolition of the capping beam of the diaphragm walls is ongoing, following which the soil will be placed over the station roof slab and finally levelled off to meet the surrounding's soil level.
Works are still ongoing at the western end of the station, hence back filling works have not progressed here yet. A fair amount of blue construction netting and scaffolding is visible, denoting the areas safe to be used as walkways for workers. Additionally, views of the progress of the remaining 2 station exits is obscured by the noise barriers still in place at the site boundary.
