CCL6 - A snapshot in May 2026
Overview of CCL6 contracts 882 to 886 as at mid-May 2026.
Top (L - R): CC30 - Keppel, CC31 - Cantonment
Bottom (L - R): CC32 - Prince Edward Road, Contract 886 cut & cover tunnels
The long awaited missing segment of the Circle Line (CCL) - phase 6 - is about to open on 12 July 2026, with a preview event on 4 July 2026 (hoorah?). Finally, there will be an end to the perpetual question from literal commuters "Why is it called the Circle Line when it is not a circle?". Before then, we catch up with the progress at the three stations and one cut & cover tunnel contract to see how much work is left to be completed before preview & opening days. If you weren't excited enough for the new phase, this post may just help with that.
CC30 - Keppel (Contract 882) In a nutshell: All 3 station exits have the station name signs, public transport logo caplet and mock up locality maps in place. Works are ongoing to tidy up and maintain the site. The small green area near Exit 3 has now had time to grow in and is flourishing with the plants and trees doing well. The actual system maps, exit directories and locality maps will need to be updated before the preview & opening days.

CC31 - Cantonment (Contract 883) In a nutshell: If Keppel were to be the station most ready for opening day, then Cantonment would be the second-most ready. All 4 station exits have the station name signage installed along with the public transport logo caplet. No mock up locality maps were seen at any of the exits, although a system map was noted at Exit 2. Around the contract site, tidying up and maintenance works were underway.

CC32 - Prince Edward Road (Contract 885) In a nutshell: Of the three stations, Prince Edward Road did not have any station name signs installed at either of the two station exits. Work was still underway to install architectural finishings at Exit 1, located adjacent to the office building along Shenton Way. Both station exits, however, were already featuring the public transport logo caplet. Elsewhere around the site, installation of covered linkways were underway, especially between the station's Exit 2 and the Shenton Way bus terminal. Re-turfing and back-filling works were also in progress around the site as hoarding was removed from the station's structures.

Cut & Cover tunnels (Contract 886) In a nutshell: With works completed, only a few sections of the former work zones remain fenced up. Notably, the escape staircase structure along Park Street is one such structure. A cul de sac also remains blocked off from the main street, where the escape stairs are located, sitting directly above the turnback siding that may be used during peak hours to terminate services running to Dhoby Ghaut station.

Passenger information displays In a nutshell: At the CCL6 stations, the LED train arrival boards at the station exits were in operation and displaying train arrival times. The display format may offer some hints at how services may be organised with the LED boards displaying the direction (clockwise & anticlockwise) and likely the subsequent interchange station together with the arrival timing. During the testing phase, as the non-revenue service trains were plying along the phase, the trains are indicated to end at either HarbourFront or Marina Bay, where they become revenue service trains - more on that in the next section on Line Testing below.
An image screencapped from a Channel News Asia video also showed that the plasma displays would be changed to feature the aforementioned Clockwise & Anticlockwise services. This means that the days of the existing end terminal numbers are numbered. Best to get your photos of these displays while they remain.

Line testing In a nutshell: It was noted that trains along the Marina Bay branch were plying the full loop while Dhoby Ghaut branch trains ran the shuttle to Stadium instead. Platform D at Marina Bay was out of service, with trains proceeding onwards to Prince Edward Road station. Trains at Platform C were arriving from Prince Edward Road station as well. This is likely to be the off-peak service pattern. During peak hours, we expect that to maintain frequency on the main loop as well as the Dhoby Ghaut branch, the shuttle service will likely be extended from Stadium to Prince Edward Road, making use of the turnback siding built under contract 886 to facilitate direction changes.
Till then, we hope you're excited for the first rail project opening in 2026. Do join in the preview day for free rides along CCL6 and explore the three stations that will see the CCL become Singapore's first loop MRT line (The Downtown Line doesn't count here).
