Revisiting Cantonment

An aerial view of the Cantonment station construction site.

On National Day, we conducted a virtual tour on the SG MRT Construction (SgMC) Instagram channel. During the tour, we covered several stations along the Circle Line and we'll be featuring some additional shots that we hadn't showcased on the Instagram channel during the tour.

Overview of the main construction site. Keppel station can be
seen in the background.

Shaft openings to allow construction to continue below.

Centralised cooling tower where equipment footings are visible.

Old KTM platform canopy that remains on site visible.
Where the struts are is where a future exit will come up.

Part of the underpass connecting to this exit visible below ground.

The beginnings of a new exit next to the multi-storey car park.

Construction works at the site are in full swing for sure. We know from LTA press releases that construction of the tunnels between HarbourFront and Prince Edward Road by tunnel boring machines are complete. Meanwhile, works are on-going at Cantonment station using the top-down method. Unfortunately, this means that not very much can be seen from the surface level. Nonetheless, some progress can be seen for the construction of its 4 exits. The centralised cooling tower also has the footings for its mechanical equipment in place.
