CCL - Signage revisited

11 October 2025 - Updated wayfinding signage at Promenade station.

The roll out of the next generation of signage along the Circle Line (CCL) ahead of its Stage 6 opening next year has commenced. Starting with Promenade station, the signage update exercise has expanded to other stations with reports of the signs being spotted at Nicoll Highway, Dakota and Paya Lebar coming in. The changes are rather drastic from the previous versions used along the line, with the full route map being displayed on the Platform Screen Doors (PSDs) and station name signs displayed over the door opening instead of in between them.

11 October 2025 - A view of the updated signage, where the station name is displayed above the
PSD door openings and the full route map in between doors.

27 November 2025 - New signage at Paya Lebar station's platform A.

27 November 2025 - New signage at Paya Lebar's platform B.

Here's some historical context to help you recall what the different versions of the signage system entailed.

9 November 2024 - A view of the 2001-era signage at Punggol station. This standard was
characterised by the station alphanumeric code being encapsulated in a rectangular box and the
direction of travel indicated by displaying the line terminus with end destination number.
No terminus alphanumeric code was used.

16 September 2017 - A view of the 2013-era signage at Mattar station, first introduced on the DTL.
This standard was characterised by the station alphanumeric code being encapsulated in a caplet and
the direction of travel indicated by displaying the next few stations before skipping to the final
terminus. The end destination number and alphanumeric code of the terminus is shown.

20 June 2024 - A view of the 2020-era signage at Great World station, first introduced on the TEL.
This standard was characterised by the station names being displayed over the doorways, as opposed
to in between doorways in previous standards. The full route map was also displayed and direction
of travel indicated by the terminus station with alphanumeric code. No end destination numbers
were displayed.

As updating works take place, we visited most of the stations to view the original signs before the total changeout was completed. The signs display a mix of styles from the original 2001-introduced revamp and the 2013 DTL-era where small sections of the upcoming stations along the route were displayed.

The CCL is the last remaining line to still retain signage from the 2001 & 2013 updates. Once rollout across the entire line has been completed, all lines would be utilise the 2020 updated standards.

This post will also be available on Instagram & Facebook on 5 December 2025.
